What is a cat5e patch cord?
I have two of them both have cat5e printed on them
one has a crossover to connect computer to computer, the other came
with my cable modem and is 'straight through'.
How do I tell the differnce?
I think I have the right one for the cross over because the other
one gives an error.
There is other stuff printed on it
e132276-a etc

Have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethernet_cable and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethernet_crossover_cable, and check the
pinouts. You'll notice that there is only one pinout given for the
straight cable, ie, you cannot tell one end from another by looking at
the wire colors (easy to do this the pug in transparent plastic), while
the crossover has a different pinout at each end.

Ah but I have the correct cable but it don't work.
