  1. Linksys encryption issue with vista

I have been using this befw 11s4 router for a couple of years with 3 wired
XP machines with not too much trouble. I just got a new laptop (Acer) with
vista and have had nothing but trouble. I cannot get a good connection if I
    turn on
encryption. I get 1 maybe 2 bars. If I turn it off and connect back I get a
full signal. I tried upgrading the firmware from 1.50 to 1.52 and that
    fails.
What are my options here? For those of you who say trash this router which
    one should I get?

    Thanks,

    Brian

Possibly not your solution but worth a go. In my experience with various
Acer PC/Laptops I've always removed or disabled the "e" software (can't
remember exact name) that they put on the machines. If you look in
services you can disable the "e-net" (its obvious but I can't remember the
exect name) service and let windows manage things instead. Had an issue
with an Acer laptop and wireless connections a couple of weeks ago,
letting windows manage things has sorted it.

Like I say I'm not sure its the actual cause of your issue but if I was
looking at the problem I would try the above first just to make sure.
