  1. problem with carp

    Hello,

I have 2 machines with 3 networks, setup with carp etc etc...It works
for a year but since 2 months i have the following problem..

The server that always was the MASTER and is now the BACKUP but all carp
interfaces on that server have a lower advskew value then the other
    server...
How is that possible ? When i look at the traffic on both servers i see
the notifications send by carp but still the server that have to be the
    master isn't the master anymore.
Also all interfaces have the status up and are connected correctly..

Anyone have a suggestion ? I am running Openbsd 3.8

    Hi.

I have 2 machines too, but with 2 network interfaces, and with 2 carp.
Now it's working fine with OpenBSD 3.8.

This is my output of ifconfig command:

    Systen A:
    carp0: flags=8843 mtu 1500
carp: MASTER carpdev rl0 vhid 1 advbase 1 advskew 0
    groups: carp
    inet 172.16.0.3 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 172.16.0.255
    carp1: flags=8843 mtu 1500
carp: MASTER carpdev rl1 vhid 2 advbase 1 advskew 0
    groups: carp egress
    inet 215.57.41.1 netmask 0xfffffff8 broadcast 215.57.41.7
    cain:~> cat /etc/hostname.carp0
    inet 172.16.0.3 255.255.255.0 172.16.0.255 vhid 1 carpdev rl0 pass xxxxxxxx

    inet 215.57.41.1 255.255.255.248 215.57.41.7 vhid 2 carpdev rl1 pass
    xxxxxxxx

    System B:
    abel:~> ifconfig
    carp0: flags=8843 mtu 1500
carp: BACKUP carpdev rl0 vhid 1 advbase 1 advskew 100
    groups: carp
