I have DB2 7 and 8 installed on AIX 5.3.4
when I try to run lsof
i get
lsof
lsof: no local file space at PID 348330

if I grab this PID

ps -fp348330
UID PID PPID C STIME TTY TIME CMD
uall01in 348330 258250 0 25 Jun - 0:00 db2tcpcm 0

lsof -p348330 | wc
32769 294875 3995592

now THAT's a lot of file descriptors.

does DB2 configuration do some strange sh*t or what?

ulimit of DB2 users (above) is

$ ulimit -a
time(seconds) unlimited
file(blocks) unlimited
data(kbytes) 245760
stack(kbytes) 32768
memory(kbytes) unlimited
coredump(blocks) unlimited
nofiles(descriptors) 2000

why does DB2 create so may FD's ?
