  1. mksysb to autoloader tape drive return error

    Hi all

    here is my case:

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    # mksysb -i /dev/rmt0

Creating information file (/image.data) for rootvg...

Creating tape boot image./dev/rmt0.1: A file or directory in the path
    name does not exist.

0512-044 mksysb: Cannot access device /dev/rmt0.1.
tctl rewind failed with return code 2.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

and the /dev/rmt0 will change to "defined", I need to change back to
    "available" again.

    any idea?

    thanks

    steve

Did you load a tape into the tape drive before starting mksysb?

    Ted.

Funny fix. On AIX you have normaly rmtX devices. mtX devices comes
from other device driver software like TSM.

So i would check a little bit more to see whats going on.
