IBM AIX language change - Aix

This is a discussion on IBM AIX language change - Aix ; HI, Does anyone know how to change the native language of AIX 5.3 without reinstalling completly. Just changing the LANG variable is not enough. Don't ask why ... Thanks in advance JF Leblond...

    HI,

    Does anyone know how to change the native language of AIX 5.3 without
    reinstalling completly.

    Just changing the LANG variable is not enough.

    AIX can support multiple locales concurrently.
    You do not have to reinstall.
    Just install the new locale filesets with:
    smit lang
    Add Additional Language Environments
    and then you can change the system default with:
    smit lang
    Change/Show Primary Language Environment
    or set different locales for different users with:
    smit lang
    Set User Langauges
