Thread: Fix broken update of the software.

  1. Fix broken update of the software.

    Folks,

I was updating Java5 on my system from 5.0.0.51 to 5.0.0.100. I used smit
to do the upgrade. The install failed and now Java5 is in BROKEN
    state:

    [[root@lidp27]]/:
    # lslpp -l "Java5*"
    Fileset Level State Description
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Path: /usr/lib/objrepos
    Java5.sdk 5.0.0.100 BROKEN Java SDK 32-bit

    Path: /etc/objrepos
    Java5.sdk 5.0.0.51 COMMITTED Java SDK 32-bit

I ran "installp -C", but that did not help.

    # installp -C

0503-439 installp: No filesets were found in the Software Vital
Product Database that could be cleaned up.

    "lppchk -c" displays the errors:

    [[root@lidp27]]/:
    # lppchk -c Java5*
    lppchk: 0504-208 Size of /usr/java5/jre/bin/classic/libjvm.so is 120171,
    expected value was 182211.
    lppchk: 0504-208 Size of /usr/java5/jre/bin/java_de.properties is 46369,
    expected value was 45565.

  2. Re: Fix broken update of the software.

I figured out how to fix it. I found the answer in the man page. I ran
installp with "-acgNX" option and I was able to fix the problem.

    Example:

    installp -acgNX -d /tmp/java5ptf/ Java5
