  1. UUID format changes on AIX 5.3

    Hi guys and girls,

I haven't been working on AIX for a while (since the release of 5.2). I
understand there have been some changes on the format of the UUID/PVID
when moving on to AIX 5.3. Could someone more knowledgeable on this list
explain or at least point me to the right direction where to find more
    detailed information on this issue?

    Thanks a lot,

    Lars

    Lars,

The relase notes for 5.3 are located at
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infoce...v5r3/index.jsp. I
took a quick glance through the information center and I don't see
anything about it. I never worked on 5.2 but I know that in 5.3 the
PVID is 32 bits, but the last 16 bits are zeroes. If you do an lspv on
a disk you will only see the first 16 bits, but in the ODM the PVID is
    32 bits.

    I hope that this helps.

    JNB
