Internal tape drive missing on P630 / 7028-6C4 ??
Hi all,
Anybody seen this before? Our Tivoli server only reports having the
external Ultrium
drives:
root@tsmsvr:/> lsdev -Cc tape
rmt0 Available 11-08-00-2,0 IBM 3580 Ultrium Tape Drive
rmt1 Available 1D-08-00-3,0 IBM 3580 Ultrium Tape Drive
rmt2 Available 1D-09-00-1,0 IBM 3580 Ultrium Tape Drive
smc0 Available 1D-09-00-1,1 IBM 3583 Library Medium Changer
root@tsmsvr:/>
The 4mm internal (I believe a 6158) doesn't show up in the list.
It doesn't appear in smit -> Devices -> Tape Drives -> List all defined
or Add a Tape drive.
cfgmgr doesn't find it (with no args). diag doesn't report it as
missing.
It is powered up, as it accepts a new tape and rewinds it to the ready
state.
The OS level (5100-03) is a bit old, but performing as it should.
I inherited DDS4 mksysb tapes from this system, so it did work at some
point before I got here.
Any ideas on what this could be?
Thanks much in advance.

Sounds like it is not conneced to the SCSI adapter.
Or a problem with the interface.

Ted.
