  1. rmcd wont listen 657 tcp?

    hi all

    i found a problem in my aix server (aix 5.3 ML0704) when i run lsof -
    i :657. it looks like the following.
    COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFF NODE NAME
    rmcd 762006 root 3u IPv6 0xf100020003f19600 0t0 UDP *:rmc

    in /etc/services, the port 657 is defined.
    rmc 657/tcp # RMC
    rmc 657/udp # RMC

    but no matter what i do, the port 657 tcp just wont be listened.

    any idea?

    thanks in advance

    Frank

    I'm pretty sure you will only see "LISTEN" for TCP ports not UDP.

    $ lsof -i tcp:657
    COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFF NODE NAME
    rmcd 331940 root 14u IPv4 0xf1000600020a7b98 0t0 TCP *:rmc
    (LISTEN)

    $ lsof -i udp:657
    COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFF NODE NAME
    rmcd 331940 root 3u IPv4 0xf1000600020b4000 0t0 UDP *:rmc

    "lsof -i tcp:657" retuns nothing.

    lsof -i udp:657
    COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFF NODE NAME
    rmcd 1147036 root 3u IPv6 0xf100020003f7bc00 0t0 UDP
    *:rmc

    how can i find out what is going on with 657 tcp?

    Have you tried,

    # stopsrc -s ctrmc
    # startsrc -s ctrmc
