Immediate Need - AIX/LINUX Administrator - Atlanta

Center Operation in the Atlanta Metro Area (Gwinnett County). Please

This is a contract-to-perm position, and the salary range is $80 -
$90k/yr + benefits

General Job Description:
Customer focused, team oriented Systems Engineer with a broad-based
knowledge, experience, and hands on skill in the UNIX area with an
extensive understanding of UNIX Operating Systems including the
automated provisioning of the OS and software. Proven ability to
successfully analyze and perform problem resolution with an emphasis
on customer satisfaction. Advanced skills in understanding a
customer’s requirements, identify deficiencies and potential
opportunities, and develop innovative solutions for customers.

Job Requirements:
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
• Develop new or maintain existing systems based on specifications
• Participate in the design of new or changing systems
• Participate in functional test planning and testing for the assigned
functional area(s) or project(s)
• Participate in problem solving and troubleshooting for the assigned
task(s), functional area(s) or project(s)
• Share knowledge by effectively documenting work
• Stay current with changes in the technical area of expertise
• Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the assigned task(s),
functional area(s) or project(s)
• Work with the team to ensure the quality of the assigned task(s),
functional area(s) or project(s)
• Respond quickly and effectively to production issues and taking
responsibility for seeing those issues through resolution.
• Mentor less experienced Engineers
• Provide weekly status reports on individual projects and tasks.
• Participate in on-call rotation of 24x7 support and be flexible in
availability as needed

Key Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, maintain and support complex IBM AIX and Linux
• Install software, associated components, and 3rd party software
• Analyze and troubleshoot AIX and Linux operating systems

Required Skills:
• Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
• Experience with IBM AIX 5.x Operating System and IBM pSeries
• Knowledge of Remote Administration of pSeries hardware through HMC
• Experience installing, configuring, maintaining Dynamic LPARs,
Partitions & Virtualization
• IBM Websphere MQ and DB2 installation
• UNIX/Linux system administration with large server base (100+) for a
minimum of 5 years
• Advanced knowledge of common server side applications: email, FTP,
DHCP, LDAP, NFS, DNS, SSH, SMTP, SNMP, network configurations
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; strong customer relations
• Strong technical problem solving skills
• Ability to learn and apply new technology and methodologies in a
distributed environment
• Ability to manage multiple priorities that continually change
• Solid understanding of security and network/distributed computing
• Solaris 9/10 for SPARC and/or x86 in a production environment
• RHEL 3/4/5 in a production environment
• Writing UNIX shell scripts
• Jumpstart, Kickstart, Large Scale Systems Deployment
• Experience with SUN SPARC, HP.
• Significant experience deploying and supporting high availability,
high performance, scalable application infrastructure
• Any experience in virtualization software such as VMWare and Citrix
a plus.

The AIX candidate must have extensive experience in configuration/
installation/deployment of complex AIX environments: HACMP, VIO,
LPARS. An occasional installation or extensive experience managing
existing systems will not be sufficient. Communication skills—written
and verbal—are essential; this is a highly engaged environment with
demanding clients and various LOBs within the company.
