  1. Applicatoin - XWindow

    Hi,

We have an application supporting by AIX. The application requires the
application account to login from the graphical console in the CDE
environment and issues an "xhost +" in the xterm session. The login
session is not allow to logout after that or else the application will
not behave normally, hence, the session will have to locked the screen
    and leave it there.

This is fine but when there is a reboot, the whole process requires to
perform manually again. Is there a way to do it automatically (ie:
after a schedule system un-attentive reboot)?

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

I suggest installing VNC. The VNC server creates "virtual desktops" to
which you connect remotely. This allows a desktop to be "started" at
    boot time.

Or use the native Virtual Frame Buffer :
Use these lpp from the AIX CDs

X11.vfb Virtual Frame Buffer Software for AIXwindows
OpenGL.OpenGL_X.dev.vfb OpenGL Virtual Frame Buffer Support

Then you can start a Memory-Only X Server running on :1 from inittab

Can your application autostart at boot and use DISPLAY=:1 ?

If it doesn't work, force it. If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway.

Can the user "connect" to the XVFB after it has started? For example
to view application output sent to the XVFB?

Well you can connect to the server, but to to see it you need some
sort of sharing, like the 'rfb' program. If this is your need then the
VNC server will be a better choice.

XVFB is for applications needing a X display to operate on, but then the
output will be saved on disk: an image or a movie to be seen later
    using some sort of player.
