The ATI *mumble* 7000 cards (red boards, pretty small) had *cough*
trouble with the drivers as shipped on the xp cd, making install all
but impossible and certainly much more unpleasant than usual after the
installer would ``optimize'' by switching from boring old 640x480 to
something with vertical stripes and lots of noise through the picture.

This was a while back mind. About when I fought with getting opengl
working on a 9200SE _PCI_ card on redhat 8 (which didn't work despite
documentation saying it would -- I ended up forcing some fedora core
RPMs onto that RH8 box), and getting naught but oracle errors from ATI's
``support'' website.
